Rev. I.V. Smith is from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. He attended and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, after which, he served in the U. S. Army. He later began a career in the automotive industry for over 32 years. He is married to Linda Robinson-Smith of Smithfield, Virginia. He is a father and grandfather.
At United Church of God, he became the Youth Pastor and Sunday School Teacher for the Youth. After which, he became an assistant to the Pastor. Some of the duties were visiting the sick (home and hospital), serving communion, and counseling the youth. Several times a month, he supported the pastor by delivering the message for the morning and/or evening services or speaking at other churches. In addition, he held and taught Bible study in homes and worked in the Prison ministry.
Upon relocating to Fredericksburg, Virginia, he became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Woodford, Virginia under the leadership of Rev. C. L. Jackson. While serving at Macedonia Baptist Church, he was re-licensed and ordained as a Baptist Minister. Shortly thereafter, he was selected as Pastor Elect at Good Hope Baptist Church in Dunnsville, Virginia. Now he currently serves as the Pastor.
His passion is studying the Word of God and listening to music. He states “I am finally at a place in my life that I can fulfill my personal call to the ministry along with the great commission which belongs to all God’s children”. Success for me means fulfilling the call to be who God created me to be, a man who would study, pray and speak the Word in and out of season and fulfill God’s total purpose for my life.
